These DIY Garbage Disposal Cleaning Cubes Keep the Sink Fresh

These DIY Garbage Disposal Cleaning Cubes Keep the Sink Fresh

It's not hard to keep your garbage disposal clean, but if it could smell better too, there's no reason to cut up a lemon or buy a cleaner just for the job. These disposal cleaning cubes give the blades something to chew on and smell great at the same time.

Cleaning a garbage disposal is usually just as simple as a little ice and some water—maybe some salt, depending on who you ask. Some people swear by lemon or baking soda, or even lemon and vinegar cubes. This method is similar, but instead of forcing you to cut up a lemon or orange just for the disposal, it uses rinds you can save in a plastic bag instead—plus a little fresh or dried rosemary for good measure.

A half-cup of rinds, a few tablespoons of rosemary, some vinegar, and an ice cube tray—that's all you need. Just put the rinds and rosemary into the tray, add some vinegar, let it freeze, and you're good to go. Anytime your disposal needs a little freshening up, a couple of these cubes along with cold water and some ice will help clean it out, dislodge any gunk or debris stuck in it, and leave your sink smelling nice, all in one go.
