The Truth About Public Toilet Seats

For some of us, using a public toilet is a nightmare. AsapSCIENCE can put your mind at ease with this video explaining why public toilet seats aren't as dirty as you think they are.

If you hover, place toilet paper on the seat, or use those weird toilet seat flappy covers, you might be interested to know that there's actually more fecal matter on the cutting board in your kitchen than on most toilet seats. In fact, covering the toilet seat isn't really protecting you from germs and bacteria anyway. Hovering can help, but there are germs everywhere in a bathroom, so there is no way to avoid them. Fortunately, your skin is designed to keep all of the nasty little germs out, so as long as the toilet seat looks clean—and you don't have an open wound on your hiney—you can rest your tush easy. Don't forget to always wash your hands!

  1. Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
