Android: Level, the budgeting app that keeps you from overspending, updated today with new savings goals that will help you stash money away for that dream vacation, a new car, a down payment on a home, or whatever else you're saving for. Plus, it makes allocating money to those goals easy, and hides it so you don't spend it.
"Hiding" money you've allocated to expenses—and now to your goals—is central to the way Level works. We mentioned when the app launched initially and then landed on Android, and today's update to the Android app continues the theme. By default, Level only shows you how much you can actually spend, and your recent transactions—you'll open the app and see how much you can spend today without running up against money that should be going to your bills or your savings goals.
Creating goals in the app is easy. Swipe out the sidebar to the left, tap goals, and you can get started. You'll see how much money you have to allocate to those goals. You can even set up an "autosave" feature, which lets you immediately allocate a percentage of your monthly income to one of your goals as soon as it comes in. It's kind of a "pay yourself first" kind of thing—and that money is hidden from view as soon as it's allocated to a goal.
The app also has a smart "rainy day" emergency fund builder, and uses your transactions and income to automatically set up an emergency fund that will meet your needs. Once it's set up, it'll also automatically start stashing money in it until it's full. Best of all, since everything happens in the app, you don't actually have to make changes to your bank accounts or anything to make use of it. Level does the math for you, all you have to do is keep an eye on the meter that's front and center in the app. Hit the link below to give it a try.
