The out-of-office auto-reply is now a part of work life, but when you are composing it, curb your enthusiasm about your vacation and avoid lines that will cause recipients to be jealous, says Wired.
It's easy to get caught up in the rush of leaving your work behind, but that doesn't mean you need to rub it in the face of those still stuck in the office. Remember, you have to come back and work with the same people, so don't antagonize them unnecessarily.
Don't be condescending, and don't instill jealousy. You'll just undo all the goodwill you've established with that "thank you" at the beginning of your message. They might even send you additional emails out of revenge.
