Move Healthier Foods to the Middle Shelf in Your Fridge

Move Healthier Foods to the Middle Shelf in Your Fridge

Trying to eat a little healthier? Move all of your unhealthy snacks, treats, and beverages down to the lower shelves and drawers of your refrigerator, and put all of your fruits and vegetables up higher. That first glance in the fridge can help you make better choices.

That way, when you open up your fridge, you'll see all of your healthier items first. This can do a number of things to your brain: like guilt you into snacking on those baby carrots instead of chips because they aren't hidden away in some "veggie dungeon." It can also encourage you to cook more because you'll see that your fresh ingredients are there and ready to go. There's a very strong chance that your home cooked meal is much healthier than that take-out you were considering.

Of course, you're best off not filling your fridge with unhealthy stuff is best to begin with, but at least give yourself a chance to remember the healthy stuff. You'll always remember where your unhealthy foods are, but chances are you forget about the apples in the fruit drawer.
