The average US employee only takes about half of his or her earned vacation time, according to a new study by the folks at Glassdoor. We've talked about how important it is to take your vacations to avoid burnout and to just stay happier and healthier, but we're still not doing it. So, what's holding you back?
Taking time away from work to relax, get away, and be with loved ones (or just get away from it all) is easier said than done, or else we'd all make sure we took every scrap of leave we were given. Some employers make it hard to take time off, and some bosses are just intractable when it comes to letting you actually take the leave you've earned. In other cases, you may be working a project where you just can't get away, or you're so essential at your job that leaving will put everyone in a lurch (or just lead to a massive pile of work when you get back.)
So if you're one of the half of American employees (or anyone else in the world) who hasn't taken all of their leave, what's keeping you in the office? Let us know in the discussions below.
