Make Instant Meals in a Keurig K-Cup Brewer

Make Instant Meals in a Keurig K-Cup Brewer

General Mills has plans to make K-Cups for oatmeal and Campbells's Soup has similar plans. However, you can skip those pre-packaged solutions and use your Keurig (or other K-Cup brewer) as an instant hot water dispenser—just like a coffee pot.

The directions are simple for any product that requires hot water such as instant soup or oatmeal. The key is to not put in a K-Cup and just run an empty brew cycle. This gives you pre-measured hot water you can use in any instant food or drink recipe. Just put the contents of the instant meal in a bowl and put the bowl where you'd normally put a mug. If for some reason your bowl doesn't fit under the brewer, just use a mug to capture the hot water and put it in the bowl after the fact. You can use this tip in general cooking for pretty much any recipe that calls for a cup of hot water.

Since K-Cup brewers keep water hot, this solution is quicker than heating water up in the microwave, not to mention more efficient. I've been doing it for awhile, and it works great!
