Use Facebook to Find Your Next Job Instead of LinkedIn

Use Facebook to Find Your Next Job Instead of LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a popular tool for business networking and job searching. However, recruiter Stéphane Le Viet says Facebook might be an even better too for finding a job.

Facebook is where we connect with friends, but it's good for more than cat pictures and inside jokes. Letting your friends on Facebook know about your job search or letting others know about jobs at your company can create a perfect match:

"What you do on Facebook is share content all day long, so sharing [ information about ] jobs is pretty natural," he posits. When you consider that employee referrals are the best (and quickest) source of high-quality hires, Le Viet says, "Facebook is the best place in the world to make that happen because you know the people in your network a lot better than on LinkedIn."

Our friends often know about jobs before an employer posts it. They can give you the inside track to finding and getting the job. If you are currently employed, make sure you tweak your privacy settings first, though.

Similarly, you can learn about a company's culture and research job postings on a company Facebook page. Facebook is free to post jobs to, so some companies may post there first.

Recruiters are even using ads on Facebook to target potential applicants, so check out the link below for more ideas on how to use Facebook to find your next job.
