Minbox 2 Adds Screencasting and More to its Super-Fast Sharing Service

Web/Mac/Gmail: Minbox, the sassy, fast, free, file-sharing service, took the wraps off a major update that adds a ton of security tools to the mix, instant screencasting and sharing on the Mac, and more.

Minbox's claim to fame is that the service offers super-fast uploads and shares thanks to its own compression algorithm, and also lets you get share links and send them to friends or coworkers before the file has finished uploading, something other cloud storage services don't necessarily let you do. Minbox 2, the newest version of the service, adds on that speed by removing file size limits, allowing you to collaborate with others on those shared files with comments, password protection, and the ability to see where your files are viewed from.

On the Mac, Minbox makes it easy to share screenshots and screencasts. The new Mac app comes with keyboard shortcuts that let you grab a share link to any file, anywhere on your system, just by pressing a key command, as well as the option to upload all screenshots automatically and get a share link in your clipboard. You can even press another shortcut to begin recording your screen, and instantly upload and share it when you're finished. It's that quick, free screencasting combined with the ability to quickly share the screencast that's one of Minbox 2's most compelling features.

The new Minbox Gmail extension for Chrome lets you upload files to Minbox and attach them to Gmail messages without leaving the Gmail interface—just click attach, select your files, and they'll automatically upload. A link to the files is instantly added to your message. Hit the link below to check out the new features and sign up if you're not already a user. If you are a user, you can grab the update below too.
