Reader Karth is a Doctor Who fan, so he put together this Windows desktop to be part expression of his fandom and part set of tools to help him work. We can't really blame him. Here's how he set it all up.
Karth submitted this desktop to our Desktop Showcase, which is what you should do if you want to see your setup featured here! All you need to do is post a screenshot to your Kinja blog (the one that came with your commenter account) along with the wallpaper, widgets, and other tools you used to customize it.
Here's what Karth used to customize his Windows 8.1 desktop:
- The Tardis wallpaper by nirufe on DeviantArt
- The Rainmeter system tweaking and monitoring tool for Windows
- The Elegance 2 skin for Rainmeter for the clock
- The SimpleSentenceThree skin for Rainmeter for the CPU and RAM meters, as well as the uptime/break timer
- The Ourea icon pack to replace the system icons
Unfortunately, Karth's setup also uses the Frosted Elegance skin for Rainmeter to create the text-shortcut homebar on the lower right corner of the desktop, but the DeviantArt user who created it seems to have deactivated their account, and while there are plenty of links to it, I can't find a replacement download. With luck, Karth may be able to provide it for us! Head over to his Kinja blog to ask your questions, and let him know how much you like his work, while you're there.
Do you have a good-looking, functional desktop of your own to show off? Share it with us! Post it to your personal Kinja blog using the tag desktop showcase or add it to our Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell Flickr pool . Screenshots must be at least at least 640x360 and please include information about what you used, links to your wallpaper, skins, and themes, and any other relevant details. If your awesome desktop catches our eye, you might get featured!
