Send More Than the Default Request for Successful LinkedIn Connections

Send More Than the Default Request for Successful LinkedIn Connections

Not everyone remembers who you are even if you have met them. Don't let that be the reason your LinkedIn connection requests aren't accepted. A well-crafted message beyond the default request can help, says Peter Strid of PeopleLinx.

The people you meet at a networking event aren't always going to remember you. So when you do try to make a connection, don't rely on the "XYZ would like to add you to their professional network" message that LinkedIn is going to send out by default.

DON'T : Peter, I'd like to connect with you on LinkedIn. (Barf)

DO: Peter, Its great to see you on LinkedIn! Amazing profile by the way! I would love to connect with you to stay in touch and learn more about your role at XYZ corp. If I can ever help you out, please let me know. Go ahead and look through my connections...if there is anyone I can introduce you to, feel free to reach out to me! I also started following you on Twitter...great stuff.

Strid notes that it's a good idea to invite the person to look through your profile, and there's a good chance they're going to do it anyway, so make sure you have primed your LinkedIn for new visitors. Strid also has some other good suggestions in his full post, so you might want to check that out at the link below.
