Build Your Own Smart Powers Strip with an Arduino

Keeping track of all your electronics, how they consume power, and whether they're on, is tough business. If you want to really monitor what's going on, the Powerduino is a programmable power strip that can monitor all kinds of things.

The Powerduino is essentially a smart power strip. Included inside are current sensors, a Wi-Fi module, and other parts so that the power strip monitors each socket and transmits that data over Wi-Fi. You can check energy consumption and control whether or not an outlet is on. As with any electrical DIY project, you'll want to be careful and make sure you're safe, but you can find a full guide for everything you need to make this for yourself over on Github.
