Airline rewards programs aren't all equally, well, rewarding. If you're thinking about using your miles to travel, this analysis from MileCard will help you maximize them.
MileCard analyzed rewards availability for American, Delta, Southwest, JetBlue, and United to see what they really charge. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Southwest required the fewest number of miles (20,969) for an economy roundtrip ticket within the US, while American's average reward price is the highest (37,696). There's lots more data in the report, however, including the best airlines for reward flights to Hawaii, Europe, Asia, and other areas.
As with paying cash for flights, the cheapest day to fly by redeeming miles is on Tuesday. Flying on Sunday will cost you more miles.
