Reminder: Google Calendar Has Keyboard Shortcuts, Too

We've talked to death about keyboard shortcuts in apps like Gmail, but Wired reminds us that Google Calendar has shortcuts too—and they're really darn handy.

I'm a bit of a keyboard shortcut nut. These days, I rarely click on anything in Gmail—I use j, k, x, and other keyboard keys to get around and manage my inbox. Yet for some reason, every time I use Google Calendar, it feels like such a hassle—because I'm using my mouse the whole time, like some kind of chump.

If that sounds familiar, take a moment today to check out Calendar's keyboard shortcuts. They're often ignored (the last time we mentioned them was in 2006!), but really good—and similar to Gmail's! For example:

  • j and k move you up and down from month to month (or week to week, depending on your view)

  • t takes you directly to today

  • d takes you to day view, w to week view, m to month view, and so on (also works with 1, 2, and 3 respectively)

  • c creates a new event

These are just a few of the actions I use every day, but there are a lot of other shortcuts. Check out the full list at the link below, or hit the ? button in Google Calendar to see the list there.
