Look at Pressure as a Reflection of Ambition

Look at Pressure as a Reflection of Ambition

When you're under a lot of pressure, you may want to try and get away from it all. Try to change the way you look at pressure instead, and think about what being under pressure really means.

Inc. talked with Trevor Moawad, vice president of pro and elite sports, about the high amounts of pressure that can come along with big moments in our work life. Moawad gives motivational talks regularly to all kinds of teams, including business teams. In his talks, he highlights significant ways to look at pressure differently:

Pressure is a reflection of ambition. Moawad attributes this quote to legendary track star Michael Johnson, with whom he worked for 10 years. The idea is that nothing worth having—whether it's a gold medal or a promotion or an infusion of venture capital—is going to happen without pressure. So rather than viewing the pressure as a negative, look at it as a great opportunity. It means that you know what you want, and that you actually have a chance of obtaining it.

If pressure is something you feel in your life regularly, try and remember what feeling pressure actually means. Motivate yourself with it, instead of letting it swallow you up.
