Android/iOS: BillGuard, the service that already notifies you of questionable charges and monitors your credit for you, now also offers personalized data breach alerts. Now, if a bank, credit card, or retailer you frequent loses data in a security breach, the app will notify you immediately.
The update comes on the heels of BillGuard's new Android app (the service was previously iOS only) so you get the benefit of improved security as well as the ability to track your finances on the go. The video below is a good introduction to the new app. The service tooks the initiative to start tracking security breaches after the big Target incident back in December, and now whenever something similar happens to a company you shop with, or a bank you have an account with, Billguard will alert you via push notification and via email. It'll also include instructions and suggestions for what you should do as a result.
The alerts are useful enough, but since BIllGuard also tracks your credit cards and accounts for suspicious charges (and even so-called "grey charges" you may not otherwise notice), you can opt to keep an eye on things and act if you see anything strange. For its part, the new Android app looks great and includes all of BillGuard's features, including budgeting tools, account overviews, and more.
