Everplans is a service that walks you through all of the steps you need to follow to prepare for your—or someone else's death. Now, it also helps you fill out and store all of the documents, files, scanned records, and personal instructions required to make things a little easier for grieving family or loved ones.
The last time we mentioned Everplans, the site launched a series of instructional guides that helped you, step-by-step, plan for death; either your own (so you can make things easier for the people you leave behind), or for a loved one or family member. Now the service is taking things a step further offering users a repository for all of that information. They'll still walk you through what you need to know and do, but they'll also store all of it for you in an encrypted, private vault that only you and a designated account deputy can access.
Everplans will keep information on your beneficiaries, bank and broker accounts, insurance documents, wills and living wills, power of attorney, any directives you set, any specific health care requests, and of course, personal notes, letters to family or loved ones, account details for utilities and bills, and any usernames and passwords for online accounts—just so your loved ones aren't stuck trying to get access to your email or online bills without you there to help them.
The basic service is free, and comes with one account deputy and all of the features mentioned here. If you want more deputies, or Everplans' annual checkups, storage for scanned documents, and more, you can check out their $35/mo premium plan.
